The adventure begins in your particular hotel and we take you outside Quepos in 25 minutes, a world away from the hustle and bustle of Quepos’s shops and restaurants. Clean and gassed Honda ATVs are waiting for you. Your bilingual guide will give you a brief introduction on how to operate the 4WD ATV safely, and then everyone will be asked to attend a short training session.
Now the real fun begins! The approximate three-hour tour starts with the ATVs and seeing waterfalls, natural springs in the rain forest’s unique ecosystem. During the tour we will pass four different types of plantations: papaya, teak, African palm and rice. We also traverse some traditional Costa Rican towns, this gives you the chance to admire another rustic side of Costa Rica.
The tour meanders through a labyrinth of muddy highways that lead to an entrance into the unique rainforest ecosystem. Here we descend from our four-wheelers and begin a short hike in the primary and secondary rainforest in search of wild jungle creatures. During the hike we will pass through suspension bridges with spectacular views of the river.
At the end of our walk we will take a refreshing dip in the natural waterfalls. With a bit of luck and “pura vida” we can see: Titi monkeys, toucans, sloths, various species of tropical birds and huge Morpheus butterflies, among many other species of flora and fauna. After the refreshing bath and the relaxed hike back to the ATVs to get dirty again.
When the tour ends, you may have some appetite, the transport will take you to the Rancho, where we will enjoy some of the most delicious meals in Costa Rica. Here you have time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of a true tico culinary experience. Finally, when you are so busy you can burst, the transport will take you back to your hotels for a much needed siesta.
